Notts County have signed Shrewsbury midfielder Ben Davies on a three-year deal.

The 28-year-old, one of the most highly-rated players in League Two, recently turned down a new deal with Shrewsbury, offered to him following their play-off final defeat last season. Davies has scored 31 goals from midfield over the last three seasons and becomes County's sixth summer signing, joining the likes of Graeme Lee and Ricky Ravenhill at Meadow Lane.

"We've managed to secure the signature of a very talented footballer and we have fought off some very strong competition to bring him here," manager Ian McParland told his club's official website. "He can get on the ball and open doors for us and his set-pieces are deadly as well. It is an exciting signing for us."

Davies began his career with Walsall and had spells with Kidderminster and Chester before moving to Shrewsbury.
