Stoke defender Andy Wilkinson and midfielder Salif Diao have both signed new contracts with the club.

Wilkinson, 24, has agreed a 12-month contract extension which will keep him at the Britannia until at least 2012 while Diao, who was out of contract, will stay for another year.

"I'm delighted that I've signed the extension to my contract," said Wilkinson, who is the club's longest-serving player having made his debut in 2001.

"It was a dream come true to play for the club I supported as a kid and now to sign a new deal for another season going into the Premier League is another dream," he added.

"I still have to pinch myself at times to see if it's all real but I'm buzzing and can't wait for the new season."

Diao made 21 appearances last season in a campaign which saw him struggle with injury. However, despite being out of contract the 32-year-old former Senegal international was keen to remain with the Potters.

"I'm really happy to sign the contract. I've always wanted to stay here and the club always wanted me to stay here too," he said. "There's a very difficult season ahead of us now and it's good for everything to be sorted out now."

Chief executive Tony Scholes was pleased to reward both players with new deals as the club heads into its second Premier League season.

"This new contract is a deserved reward for Andy's performances over the last season," he told the club's website.

"Salif has been an important part of Tony Pulis' team for the last two years and we are very pleased that he has decided to stay at the Club for a further season."
