Smith heads to the Orient

Leyton Orient have completed the permanent signing of midfielder Jimmy Smith on a free transfer from Chelsea.

The 22-year-old spent the final three months of last season on loan at Brisbane Road and has now put pen to paper on a two-year contract.

"We are delighted to welcome Jimmy back to the club," said manager Geraint Williams.

"He had a big part to play in our successful end to last season so it's great that he has signed a permanent deal with us.

"It shows his ambition because he had a year left at Chelsea, but he felt it was the right time to make a break and show he's ready to play first-team football."
