Scunthorpe captain Cliff Byrne admitted the Iron were happy not to pick up any injuries during their 2-1 friendly win over Bottesford Town on Saturday.

Nigel Adkin's side recorded a victory in their opening game of pre-season but defender Byrne was happy just to come through the first week unscathed.

Byrne said: "It was a good run-out and I think we got what we needed out of it.

"It went well and it's all part of the build-up towards the big game against Cardiff on the opening day of the season.

"It looks like we came out of the game injury free as well which we are very pleased with."Í
