Orlandi extends Swansea stay

Swansea winger Andrea Orlandi has signed a new one-year contract with the Coca-Cola Championship outfit.

The Spaniard looked to have played his last game for the Swans when his previous contract expired last month and former manager Roberto Martinez departed for Wigan, but new Swans boss Paulo Sousa has persuaded the 24-year-old to sign a new one-year deal, with the option of a further year.

"At one point I thought my time at Swansea had come to an end," Orlandi told the club's official website.

"When Roberto left I didn't really know where I was.

"But I spoke to the new gaffer and he told me to come over to Swansea for a chat. He said he was counting on me and that's what I needed to hear, so I flew straight over from Spain.

"He (Sousa) told me I had to improve certain parts of my game and I agreed with him."
