Walsall have completed the signing of striker Sam Parkin on a free transfer.

The 29-year-old was released by Luton following their relegation to the Blue Square Premier in May, but he has now penned a one-year deal with the Saddlers.

"We are delighted to get Sam on board," manager Chris Hutchings told the club's official website.

He added: "His experience is going to serve us well; he has certainly showed the necessary hunger and desire in training and hopefully we can get him scoring regularly again.

"This is another excellent addition to the squad."

The former Chelsea trainee has had previous spells at Millwall, Wycombe, Oldham, Northampton, Swindon, Ipswich and Leyton Orient.
