MacDonald seals Belgian switch

West Brom have completed the sale of Sherjill MacDonald to Belgian side Germinal Beerschot for £650,000.

The 24-year-old Dutch striker arrived at The Hawthorns on loan in January 2007 before penning a permanent deal 12 months later, costing Albion a total of £520,000 including his two loan fees.

However, he struggled for first-team opportunities, making a total of 32 substitute appearances during his time at the club without finding the net.

Six of those came during the opening months of last season before he was loaned out to Belgian side Roeselare for the second half of the campaign.

MacDonald found the net seven times in 16 league games but his form attracted the attention of Jupiler League rivals Beerschot, where he has now penned a permanent deal.

The Baggies have included a 15% sell-on clause in the deal.
