Martin Rowlands will again lead QPR in the forthcoming season after boss Jim Magilton confirmed the midfielder will retain the captain`s armband for the 2009/10 campaign.

Magilton revealed the 30-year-old was the "unanimous choice" for the role and the Irishman has every faith in his skipper.

He told the club`s official website: "We are very fortunate in that, in this group of players, we have a lot of very strong characters."

He added: "Martin will wear the armband when selected but we are lucky to have a lot of leaders all over the park.

"But Martin was the unanimous choice with the entire coaching staff. He has been here a very long time but he is also a very good player.

"He is someone that players look up to and whilst it is never an easy decision, he ticked all the boxes."
