Doncaster boss Sean O'Driscoll is hoping to complete the signings of both John Oster and Quinton Fortune in time for Saturday's friendly with Wolves.
The midfield pair have both impressed while on trial with Rovers, who will now open talks with their respective agents to try and tie-up a deal.
O'Driscoll told the Doncaster Free Press: "They have both done well, but other clubs are interested and now we have to sit down and talk to them and their representatives."
He added: "If they are out of our league when it comes to wages then it won't be a very long conversation, but if there is a chance and we're still talking, then it may be that both, or one of them, will be in the side on Saturday.
"Apart from another couple of trialists I want to play the players likely to be involved at Watford in the opening match, so if either Oster or Fortune are in the side, and nothing has been announced by then, it could be an indication that something could be on the cards."
