Bees snap up Bennett

Brentford have completed the permanent signing of defender Alan Bennett on a two-year contract.

The 27-year-old Ireland international was on loan at Griffin Park all last season from Reading as the Bees won promotion to League One.

"This is fantastic news for me and my staff, the players and fans alike," manager Andy Scott told the club's official website.

"Alan was an integral part of the successful side from last year and the continuity this gives us going into the new campaign will be vital to our progress in League One," he added.

"Not only does this give the club as a whole a huge boost but it lays down a marker as to the quality of player we can now attract and hopefully this will signal our intentions.

"Alan represents another huge piece of our jigsaw slotting into place and with two weeks to go until the start of the new season gives us extra impetus."
