Bournemouth captain Danny Hollands could face up to four weeks on the sidelines after surgery on a troublesome knee.

Hollands underwent surgery on Tuesday night to cure a long-standing problem but it leaves manager Eddie Howe short of numbers ahead of Saturday`s opening game at Bury.

Striker Jeff Goulding could also miss out this weekend after lasting just seven minutes in the friendly against Charlton, while the Cherries have been unable to add to their squad over the summer due to a Football League transfer embargo.
