Blades look at Fotheringham

Sheffield United have taken former Norwich captain Mark Fotheringham on trial.

The 25-year-old midfielder is a free agent after being released by the Canaries at the end of last season.

The Scotsman spent time on trial with Espanyol and Derby in pre-season but failed to earn a contract with either club.

Blades boss Kevin Blackwell said: "It's training and a trial. We'll see how it goes."

Fotheringham started his career at Celtic and has had spells with his hometown Dundee, German outfit Freiburg and Swiss side FC Aarau.
