Burnley hero Robbie Blake has praised manager Owen Coyle for giving the players the belief not only to beat champions Manchester United but survive in the Barclays Premier League.
Blake smashed a stunning winner in the first top-flight game at Turf Moor in 33 years on Wednesday to shock Sir Alex Ferguson's side with a most unexpected result. The striker has already consigned that goal to the history books however as he knows they cannot afford to rest on their laurels with Everton the visitors on Sunday.
"I've watched the replay of the goal about four times and I still can't believe it," said the 33-year-old. "The manager was very upbeat before the game and that is how he always is. Anything is possible in football."
Blake added: "He is so positive it is unbelievable and I think it rubs off on the players. We go into games thinking we have played in the Premier League for 10 years. He has a good knack of doing things like that and hopefully he can keep motivating us towards more points this season.
"He has a belief in the players that we can do well. When he is drumming it in all week it does sit there in the back of your head. If you don't believe an upset can be caused there is no point in going out there."
Coyle is a big believer in keeping his side happy and upbeat but stresses they still have to work hard.
"We always have fun. We have to remember it is still entertainment," said the manager.
"Yes, there is so-called pressure in football and we want to win games and stay in the Premier League. But I believe each and every day you should come into work with a smile on your face. I'm always smiling."
Burnley were among the favourites to be immediately relegated back to the Coca-Cola Championship and after their opening 2-0 defeat that perception had not changed.
However, the result against United has shown their rivals they have to be wary of the Clarets, especially at Turf Moor.
