Players set for loans - Clegg

Published Add your comment

Ipswich chief executive Simon Clegg has admitted players may leave Portman Road on loan when the window reopens next week.

Manager Roy Keane added Grant Leadbitter, Carlos Edwards and Liam Rosenior to his squad before the transfer deadline and Clegg has held preliminary discussions with a number of clubs interested in unwanted players.

"There weren't any close to leaving in terms of coming up right against the deadline but we did hold a number of reasonably advanced discussions about a couple," said Clegg.

"I'm pleased the squad is still intact, though, and we move on.

"It's very much a possibility that some may leave on loan. If players want to be playing football we'd rather have them out there doing that rather than having them taking up wages here."
