Seagulls on way up - El-Abd

Brighton defender Adam El-Abd is convinced his side will not flirt with relegation again this season.

The Seagulls, who beat the drop on the final day last term, finally picked up their first win of the new campaign against Wycombe on Saturday courtesy of Nicky Forster`s second-half strike. And El-Abd believes the future looks rosy with Russell Slade`s new-look squad beginning to gel.

He said: "It`s been a slow start so that was a must-win game for us. But we`re improving, working hard for each other and moving in the right direction."

He added: "It was quite a close game but we got the goal and held on.

"Now, with our first win, we have something to build on and hopefully it will snowball into something special."
