Bristol City manager Gary Johnson insists he was always confident star striker Nicky Maynard would be capable of competing in the Championship.
In his second season with the Robins, the 22-year-old has been in prolific form, with four league goals in five games.
"He`s learning and wanting to make sure his game is good enough for this level," Johnson told BBC Radio Bristol.
"He knows he`s got all the attributes, he`s just got to pull them all together, which he is at the moment, so the world is his oyster.
"Players don`t tend to set the Championship alight in their first season but we were confident Nicky had the tools, and you have to go with your judgement."
