Colin Todd's four-month reign at Darlington has come to an end in the wake of his side's failure to beat Grimsby.

Todd confirmed following a 1-1 draw at the Mariners that leaves the Quakers at the foot of Coca-Cola League with two points from nine games that only a win would have saved his job.

"It was agreed (with the chairman Raj Singh) before the game that if we didn't get the win then I'd be leaving," confirmed Todd to BBC Tees. "At certain levels you're dictated by results. The time factor sometimes isn't long enough, but you have to take the rough with the smooth."

Bournemouth remain top, but it required a winner in the 86th minute from Brett Pitman to see off Burton Albion and give the Cherries a fifth successive victory at the Fitness First Stadium.

Dagenham & Redbridge have slipped to four points adrift in second after they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Morecambe, with Phil Jevons equalising from the spot after Josh Scott had scored for the hosts.

New Rotherham manager Ronnie Moore looked on from the Don Valley stands as the Millers ended Barnet's eight-game unbeaten run with a 3-0 win courtesy of goals from Kevin Ellison, Nicky Law and Adam Le Fondre.

The chasing pack occupying the play-off places in Aldershot, Rochdale, Shrewsbury and Notts County all enjoyed big home wins.

Fourth-placed Aldershot beat Cheltenham 4-1, who at least levelled via a Justin Richards penalty after Dave Winfield had opened the scoring, only for Anthony Charles, Marvin Morgan and Scott Donelly to ease Town home.

It was a similar story for Rochdale as they were pegged back by Mark Pugh following Chris Dagnall's opener, but on-loan winger Simon Whaley, Will Buckley and Craig Dawson added one apiece against United who had Ryan Green sent off late on.

Shrewsbury enjoyed a 3-0 win over Northampton, who suffered a fifth successive loss, with the Shrews goals coming from Jake Robinson, Joss Labadie and Kelvin Langmead.
