Theo Hernandez completed his move to Real Madrid from local rivals Atletico last week. The teenager signed a six-year contract with Los Blancos and will provide Marcelo with competition for the left-back position following the departure of Fabio Coentrao, who has joined Sporting Lisbon on a season-long loan deal.Theo was unveiled at the Bernabeu on Monday and expressed his delight after joining the 12-time European champions.“Thank you so much to the fans and players for this reception,” he was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail. “I am very happy to be at the best club in the world and I have come here to learn from the best players and to win titles.

“Hala Madrid!”

Florentino Perez congratulates Theo

Florentino Perez, Real Madrid’s president, then congratulated the 19-year-old following his controversial transfer from Atleti.

“Congratulations because you're now a Real Madrid player and that owes to your talent and personality and all that you've shown despite your young years,” Perez said.

“First and foremost, you wanted to come here and defend this badge despite other big European clubs wanting to sign you. Your commitment and conviction is something that won't be forgotten by everyone at Real Madrid.

“You were one of the breakthrough stars of last season's La Liga campaign and you've proved that you've got enough potential, quality, ambition, strength and determination to play for Real Madrid'.

“These supporters will always be behind you because we're aware of your ability to fight in every game and just how keen you are to win. You're joining a club that has won 12 European Cups and you become a part of the history of the biggest club in the game. I know that you'll give your all for this badge and for your family.”

Watch: Theo's attempted kick-ups at his unveiling

Now, Theo will have been acutely aware that, like every other high-profile player who signs for Real Madrid, he would need to show off a few skills at his unveiling.

The France Under-20 international probably spent most of the weekend practising in his back garden - but if he did then, unfortunately, it failed to pay off.

Footage of Theo’s attempted kick-ups have gone viral overnight and for all the wrong reasons.

Watch it here…

Smooth.

At least he can take a mean free-kick

Still, if he can produce more moments like this - especially against Barcelona - then Real Madrid fans won’t care a jot about his underwhelming freestyle at his unveiling.
