Next month, one of the most highly regarded bouts in boxing history will take place between undefeated boxer Floyd Maywether and MMA star Conor McGregor.

The stage will be set in Las Vegas, ready to smash viewing records as hundreds of millions will be tuning in to watch this highly anticipated fight.

Although many are convinced McGregor could stir up a storm, middleweight World Champion, Carl Froch remains unconvinced.

Froch has made it clear that not only is the fight between the two somewhat comical, but that McGregor will be lucky to even get close to Mayweather when it comes down to the night.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Froch said: “Mayweather is too much of a professional to switch off. He’ll be using his sharp jab and his movement and I think McGregor will really struggle - just to get near him, never mind land a punch.

“It’s going to be very, very difficult for McGregor to do anything that has any impact on Floyd Mayweather.

“But, Mayweather has been out of the ring for a couple of years now, so you just never know.

“The big question marks are there but it’s [boxing] an entertainment business - as its mixed martial arts - and both of them are top entertainers, so people will be tuning into watch it. I know I will, I am looking forward to it.”

An interesting, yet rational, response from the middleweight World Champion.

Fans all over the globe will be switching their screens on to see the two ‘entertainers’ fight it out.

As Froch quite rightly states, the sport is now fundamentally an entertainment business which will be seeking high profits.

Some may disagree, and that the motives of the sport are disappearing, but with this entertainment aspect aside, skill and ability will prove to play its part and one competitor will end up worse for wear.
