WWE is adding a surprising name to the announce team for the upcoming Mae Young Classic.

It’s already known that WWE Hall of Famers Jim Ross and Lita will be calling the Mae Young Class, which is a 32-woman tournament. However, the company decided to add another person to provide commentary for it.

WWE Hall of Famer Madusa aka Alundra Blayze recently mentioned on her Instagram account that she would be involved with the upcoming WWE Mae Young Classic tournament. It was reported that she has been helping with securing talents for the tournament and will also have a backstage role at the tapings.

Ross announced on the latest episode of the Ross Report that Madusa would be joining him and Lita on commentary for the Mae Young Classic. Madusa, who is a former WWE Women’s Champion, found the spotlight when she jumped ship to WCW (World Championship) in the mid-1990s and made her debut with the promotion on their flagship show, Monday Night Nitro when she dropped the WWE Women’s Championship in a trash can.

This was at the height of the Monday Night Wars. However, just like he has done with several former Superstars, Vince McMahon forgave her and inducted Madusa into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Madusa posted the following on the Classic yesterday (July 11th, 2017):

"Awesome day at the office !! Working hard putting things together and having a little fun at the @maeyoungclassic @wweperformctr #photo #shooting."

Several wrestlers have been announced for the tournament including some former TNA stars. This is a big deal for the company as they continue to move forward with their women’s revolution movement that has taken the company by storm over the last few years. This tournament will be very similar to the Cruiserweight Classic, which took place last year and was a success for the biggest pro wrestling promotion in the world.

The first set of tapings will take place this week (July 13th and 14th) at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. The tournament will air on the WWE Network on Monday, August 28th with the finals airing live at a SmackDown TV event in September.
