Linked heavily to Diego Costa and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Chinese Super League club Tianjin Quanjian today completed the signing of a surprise Bundesliga striker.

The Chinese club unsettled Diego Costa earlier this season and Antonio Conte recently made it crystal clear that Costa's future lies away from Stamford Bridge.

Conte reportedly informed the Spanish international by text that he would not be in his plans for the upcoming 2017/18 campaign.

Tianjin Quanjian had also been heavily linked to Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but instead secured the signing of a fellow Bundesliga striker.

Aged 28, Aubameyang has been linked with a move to Chelsea and reports suggest that he has been offered to the Blues for £70m.

Chelsea fans will be buoyed by news of Aubameyang's blocked route to China.

Modeste moves to China

Anthony Modeste scored a whopping total of 25 Bundesliga goals for Cologne last season but became embroiled in a dispute with the club over the summer.

The 28-year-old Frenchman saw his move to China break down at the end of June before Tianjin Quanjian thankfully returned for him, today completing a deal worth around €35m.

According to Sky Sports, the deal is composed of a £5m (€6m) loan with a £26m (€29m) option to buy.

Once a flop at Blackburn, Modeste has built himself a reputation as one of the most lethal strikers in German football.

Cologne signed him from Hoffenheim for just €4.5m in 2015 and are set to make a hefty profit on the man who was crucial to last season's 5th placed finish.

Joins illustrious stars in China

The highly rated Anthony Modeste is not the first thriving footballer to trade in the glamour of European football for the money of China.

Hulk, Carlos Tevez, Alexandre Pato, Alex Teixeira, Jackson Martinez, Ramires, Gervinho, Graziano Pelle, Oscar, Axel Witsel, Odion Ighalo, John Obi Mikel and Paulinho are just a few of the household names plying their trade in the Far East.

It is no secret that footballers can earn huge sums of money in the Chinese Super League.
