Doncaster have signed Southampton midfielder Simon Gillett on an emergency loan in response to a series of injuries to hit Sean O'Driscoll's squad.

Gillett, 23, a product of the Southampton academy, has signed for an initial two months and will go straight into the squad for Saturday's South Yorkshire derby clash with Barnsley at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Gillett has made 30 appearances for Southampton and has had loan spells with Walsall, Blackpool, Bournemouth and Yeovil.

The Oxford-born defender made his Southampton debut against Leicester in March 2008 and has been a first-team regular since.

Rovers skipper Brian Stock, James Coppinger, Byron Webster, Adam Lockwood and Mark Wilson are all sidelined through injury.
