Mariners suffer Proudlock blow

Published Add your comment

Grimsby have been hit by the news that Adam Proudlock faces up to a month out through injury.

The striker was forced off early in the second half of the 2-1 home defeat to Burton Albion on Saturday.

Mariners manager Mike Newell, who has vowed to strengthen his squad with new signings this week, said: "Prouds has an ankle ligament injury which could rule him out for four weeks, and that's a big set back for us."

Newell is confident of signing at least one player before his side host Rochdale at the weekend, but he is hoping to bring in as many as three new faces.
