The summer transfer window is hotting up with a number of clubs completing big deals in the last week.

Romelu Lukaku moved to Manchester United from Everton for a fee of around £75 million, blindsiding his former team Chelsea, who reportedly wanted him too.

The Blues though, have done some business themselves. It was reported on Thursday that they'd reached a £40 million deal with AS Monaco for midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Across London, Arsenal joined their title rivals, dipping into the market themselves. They secured the signing of Alexandre Lacazette, who scored on his pre-season debut for the club.

Although all these teams were expected to buy, a move not many saw coming has also been completed this week.

Bayern Munich signed Real Madrid's James Rodriguez on a two-year loan deal.

The Colombian rarely featured in Madrid's team under Zinedine Zidane last season, making just 22 La Liga appearances.

In fact, since his big move to Spain in 2014, he's only played 77 times in the league, never making more than 30 appearances in one campaign.

It was widely reported that he wanted a move away from the Bernabeu, but many believed he was Premier League bound.

Both Chelsea and United were rumoured to be fighting for the attackers signature, but he has made the move to Germany instead.

Rodriguez celebrated his 26th birthday on Thursday by training with his new club for the first time. Although he's focused on challenging with them, he made an interesting comment about his future.

"The door to Real Madrid is still open," he said, as per the Daily Mail. "But for now I only think about the next two years here. After that we'll see and make a decision."

It appears the Colombian may not yet be done at Madrid. After spending a fair bit of his time on the bench, it would be no surprise to hear that he's had enough there.

But judging by his latest comments Rodriguez may be using this loan move to prove he is still one of the best in Europe and will return to Spain for another crack at La Liga in a couple of years.
