This transfer window has seen the growth of a fairly odd trend with each club now seeking to beat the competition by producing the best video when unveiling a new signing. Many have gone viral on Twitter and a lot of them have drawn mixed reviews from fans.Roma developed a video of their new signing, Lorenzo Pellegrini, scoring a goal on Fifa 17, while Aston Villa had a pretend WhatsApp conversation with John Terry, just to name a few.

But, all the attempts that have gone before now simply look inferior after Southampton's masterpiece which delighted the masses when it popped up on Twitter.

Just have a look for yourself below and marvel at the creation of true art. The knack of unveiling a signing will never be the same again.

VIDEO

You really could just watch it over and over again.

Viewers are initially suckered in by the phrase "it's here..." but then shortly after, it is clear that it is virtually a parody.

Seconds later when the video says "another unnecessarily elaborate football club signing video", you know everything you thought was true and you just have to sit back and enjoy.

Amazingly, the video was not even announcing a fresh face, they were simply announcing a one-year contract extension for Stuart Taylor.

For those of you who have no idea who the player is, Taylor is a 36-year-old goalkeeper who used to play for Arsenal and was actually part of their title-winning team in 2002.

However, he has become a forgotten man in football and at the Saints, he surely has no chance of breaking into the first team.

Fraser Forster commands the number one spot at the club and the giant England international will certainly not lose his throne to Taylor.

The Saints are yet to make any high-profile signings this summer but have acquired Lech Poznan's Jan Bednarek.

Jay Rodriguez has been the only major departure so far but in the coming weeks, there will surely be more business coming out of St Mary's.
