With the club football season drawing closer, many teams are trying to finish their business before the campaign begins in August.

Manchester United completed the biggest signing of the summer so far when they landed Romelu Lukaku from Everton this week.

The clubs agreed on a fee reported to be around £75 million, with Jose Mourinho beating his old club Chelsea to the Belgian's signature.

It's believed that the 24-year-old was top of Roman Abramovich's shopping list, but he will now have to look elsewhere for Diego Costa's replacement.

After missing out on Lukaku, the Blues wasted little time in agreeing a price for AS Monaco's Tiemoue Bakayoko.

The midfielder should complete his move in the next few days, subject to completing a medical with the Premier League champions.

Bakayoko is not the first player to leave the French club since May as he follows Bernardo Silva out of the exit door.

The 22-year-old joined Pep Guardiola's Manchester City on July 1 and he might not be the only Monaco player moving to Manchester.

City have been interested in Benjamin Mendy for a while now and it's reported that they will soon make a bid of around £50 million, which is the Ligue 1 champions asking price.

The full-back impressed fans across Europe last season, playing an important role in helping his team secure the title and reach the Champions League semi-finals.

Monaco will be desperate to keep as many of their successful team members as possible, but with the continent's elite clubs circling, it will be a tough challenge.

In fact, they have just dropped a massive hint that Mendy is going to leave this summer.

The French champions have just left for their pre-season tour of Switzerland, but the defender has been left out of the 25-man squad.

The official line suggests that the 22-year-old is still recovering from a thigh injury, but rumours argue otherwise.

Negotiations between Monaco and City are said to be ongoing, so the fact Mendy isn't on tour is positive news for the English club.

Should they reach an agreement, Guardiola will waste little time flying Mendy to Manchester, with the player leaving from France, not Switzerland.
