Sven-Goran Eriksson is expected to reject overtures from North Korea to become their technical adviser for next year's World Cup.
The former England manager, currently Notts County's director of football, was approached by the North Korean FA but it is understood he has decided against taking up the offer.
The job with North Korea would have been a temporary post to run concurrently with his position at Notts County.
North Korea have qualified for the finals for the first time since they played in England in 1966.
Eriksson's last international job was as head coach of Mexico but he was sacked earlier this year after a run of poor results.
