Zlatan Ibrahimovic's arrival in England with Manchester United was met with scepticism with many thinking that the ageing striker simply couldn't handle the pace of the Premier League.

They were all proved wrong, with the Swedish striker scoring 28 goals in all competitions and earning himself a nomination for the PFA Player of the Year.

Sadly, in April, his career with the Red Devils was brought to a brutal end when he suffered a serious knee injury in the Europa League quarter-final against Anderlecht.

The sight of him sprawled on the Old Trafford turf was tearjerking and come June, the 35-year-old was released by the club due to his fitness.

Rumours have surfaced recently that United may choose to go back on their decision to not extend his one-year deal, as Ibrahimovic may be fitter earlier than first thought.

It was said that at the time he sustained his injury that he would be out until early 2018, but the former Paris Saint-Germain man could be ready by October.

However, he may not choose to rejoin United - despite using their training facilities during his recovery - and instead, he may make the move to LA Galaxy.

Even before his season was cut short, there were rumours that Ibrahimovic would go to the United States for one last big pay day and according to the Mirror, the California-based club are confident of getting their man.

They are prepared to pay him £6m-per-year, a figure that would make him the highest-paid player in Major League Soccer.

With the signing of Romelu Lukaku for £75m by Jose Mourinho's side, Ibrahimovic may just consider the offer as he is unlikely to want to operate as a backup.

Despite his glowing reputation at the club, the manager would surely be unwilling to condemn his marquee signing to the bench.

Lukaku will surely have to be a starter and it is highly unlikely that the two could operate as a partnership as they're simply too similar.

It may be a downgrade quality wise, but the MLS could prove a wise choice by Zlatan.
