Bothroyd hails McPhail

Cardiff striker Jay Bothroyd has hailed team-mate Stephen McPhail as "the unsung hero" of the side.

The former Perugia striker believes the Irishman's return from suspension has been the catalyst for the Bluebirds' resurgence in the Championship.

"I love playing with Macca in the team," Bothroyd told Wales Online. "He doesn't get enough appreciation."

"For me he's the unsung hero. Macca is always looking for the killer pass - and rarely gives away possession. He is a great player, terrific in training and outstanding in matches.

"He adds a forward passing momentum to our team, a cutting edge. He has set up a few of Michael Chopra's goals and he's put me in.

"Stephen kept himself fit and sharp while he was out of the team and he's done a great job since coming back in."
