As the saying goes in professional wrestling, never say never.

CM Punk, real name Phillip Brooks, was the biggest Superstar that WWE made in this current decade aside from former WWE Champion John Cena. The former WWE Superstar made a name for himself on the independent scene and while working in Ring of Honor.

When WWE finally decided to sign him, it was a big move for the company. The interesting part of Punk’s time with the sports entertainment company was that they were never behind him. In fact, while he was in OVW, WWE management wanted then booker Paul Heyman to fire him, but the former owner of ECW denied their request.

Fast forward to when WWE decided to re-launch the ECW brand in 2006, Heyman, who oversaw creative alongside Vince McMahon decided to call him up to the main roster and use him.

Punk’s career took off, and he would later hold several championships including the WWE Title. However, after dealing with injuries and not wanting to wrestle anymore, Punk decided to walk out of the company on the Monday following the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event in 2014.

Punk would later go onto achieve his goal as an MMA (mixed martial arts) fighter in the UFC when he made his pro debut back in 2016 against Mickey Gall at UFC 203 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Punk got embarrassed in the fight as he was easily taken down and submitted in the first round.

Dave Meltzer brought up former SmackDown commentator Mauro Ranallo’s return to the company despite having issues with JBL that led to him leaving the company in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Meltzer would go onto talk about how some wrestlers will leave the company on horrible terms but most end up returning. Meltzer wrote, “That’s why, no matter what is said, WWE wants C.M. Punk back, and even though Punk was adamant about never doing it, history tells you time heals a lot of wounds.”

While on her recent book tour, former WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee stated that she misses wrestling, but her husband doesn’t.

Meltzer cited an interview that Punk did with ESPN where the former WWE Champion said that he feels that WWE sent lawyers and people by proxy (Dr. Chris Amann) after him because “I called them out on their BS.” Punk also said that he hasn’t spoken to UFC President Dana White in months but still wants to fight again.
