Grimsby have boosted their attacking options with the signing of teenage striker Josh Magennis on a month's loan from Cardiff.

The Northern Ireland Under-21 international has arrived at Blundell Park to pep up a forward line which is currently shorn of the services of Adam Proudlock and Nathan Jarman due to injury, and Barry Conlon through suspension.

Magennis made his debut for Cardiff at the start of this season and has made a total of eight substitute appearances for the Welsh club.

He scored his first senior goal in the Carling Cup against Bristol Rovers in August and is highly rated by Cardiff after initially starting his career as a goalkeeper.

Mariners manager Mike Newell is likely to hand the 19-year-old an immediate debut against Rochdale on Saturday.
