In June, the footballing world sadly had to come to terms with the fact that Manchester United were releasing Zlatan Ibrahimovic after just one season in English football. The Swedish striker suffered a serious knee injury in April against Anderlecht in the Europa League quarter-final, with initial reports saying that he could be out until early 2018.Ibrahimovic was a revelation in the Premier League upon his arrival, proving all doubters wrong by scoring 28 goals in all competitions and earning himself a nomination for the PFA Player of the Year.

Without him, United would not have won the EFL Cup, where he scored two goals in the final against Southampton and would have struggled to even finish sixth in the Premier League.

Jose Mourinho was an avid fan of the 35-year-old hitman and moved quickly to replace him, adding Everton's Romelu Lukaku for £75m.

The Belgian should be a fine heir to Zlatan's throne but excitingly for United fans, they may not have seen the last of the Swedish forward yet.

It has been said in the past few weeks that the former Paris Saint-Germain man is expected to recover much earlier than expected, with suggestions that he could be available again by October.

In light of this information, Mourinho has had his say on Zlatan, hinting that the towering striker could return to the club as he feels he has unfinished business.

His response after being asked about the striker's future at the club reads: "It is possible. He was not happy in the way he finished season."

If he were to return, United would have a true embarrassment of riches up front, one which competes with the very best in world football.

Only Barcelona's MSN and Real Madrid's BBC would lay claim to possessing better offensive weapons than the Red Devils.

Zlatan has been using United's Carrington training ground during his recuperation and perhaps the club's generosity has forced him into action.

Who do you think would start for United, Zlatan or Lukaku?
