Paul George arrived at Oklahoma City to a hero's welcome this week and was officially introduced as a Thunder player.

He was greeted by thousands of fans at the airport when he landed and was given a lavish 'welcome party' as part of his first press conference with the team.

PG13 is the new star in OKC, but the name of a former favourite still lingers when it comes to the Thunder.

After spending nine years with the franchise, Kevin Durant will always be linked to OKC and George revealed that he spoke to KD after being traded from Indiana and was given a ringing endorsement of the organisation by his fellow small forward.

As well as Durant, George reached out to current Thunder superstar and league MVP Russell Westbrook.

It has been well documented throughout the year that Durant and Westbrook's relationship has soured since the former's departure to the Golden State Warriors last summer.

Although PG made it clear that he didn't want to know too much about the status of their relationship currently, he made an interesting revelation speaking on the Woj podcast upon his arrival in Oklahoma City.

“Whatever went between him and Russ that’s their business," George said. "It’s not my point to want to know or want to figure out what happened. It’s pointless. They are buddies, they are back good again. I’m here to build something different and something special.”

It's unclear whether the 27-year-old knows something we don't, but he isn't the first person to reveal that the pair are back on speaking terms.

Kendrick Perkins, a former teammate of KD and Russ, claimed that the duo spoke after Westbrook broke the record for triple-doubles with Durant sending him a congratulations message to instigate it.

If the pair are building bridges, it seems they're not willing to admit it publicly.

Durant secured his first championship ring with the Warriors and Westbrook was named as the MVP, so with both players in a positive frame of mind, it would be the perfect time to let bygones be bygones and move forward.

OKC is certainly ready to do that as they have made some smart moves this summer to be competitive again.

Along with the brilliant acquisition of George, they've added Patrick Patterson and Raymond Felton to add depth to their lineup.

Westbrook finally has the help that he craved and the Thunder will be one of the teams to watch in the stacked Western Conference next season.
