We’re just over a month away from fantasy becoming a reality, as the UFC’s Conor McGregor swaps the Octagon for the boxing ring as he takes on the mammoth tasking of inflicting the very first career defeat on Floyd Mayweather Jr’s impeccable record.

While many aren’t giving the UFC lightweight champion much of a chance on paper, he showed that verbally, he can stand with the best during the four-city world tour alongside the unbeaten American.

TRASH TALK

The Irishman didn’t seem to like the fact that Mayweather was donning tracksuits, while took aim at his tax situation, his high heels and his brittle hands – while he wasn’t the biggest fan of Showtime executive Stephen Espinoza either.

Mayweather, on the other hand, talked up his net worth compared to the Notorious, he reminded him continually that the UFC were his employers and he worked for them, while never failing to bring up the fact that he submitted three times; most recently to Nate Diaz at UFC 196.

However, the main thing fans have been talking about for the past few weeks is the training footage that’s been released.

Despite being out of action for almost two years, Mayweather doesn’t look like he’s skipped a beat as he looked as quick as ever, while remaining in great shape.

McGregor, on the other hand, didn’t look as great when he worked the bag, while a sparring session with Chris van Heerden went viral for all of the wrong reasons.

However, Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe isn’t looking too much into that, as he’s claimed that McGregor has made himself look like an amateur in the videos, so fans assume it will be an easy night’s work for the American.

TRAINING FOOTAGE

According to Boxing Scene, he said: “Believe it or not, Conor McGregor’s a smart dude.

“Do y’all actually believe that footage he put out there was real? I’m just being honest. Do you actually believe he put that footage out there and it’s real, looking the way it looked? Come on, now.

“That man, Dana and those guys, they have my utmost respect because they know what they’re doing. Because guess what? He tricked all y’all, each and every one of you. He looked slow on the bag, he’s doing this, he’s doing that. Y’all can fall for it.

“What I’m saying is, only when he’s standing up, what I see with the guy and I have very good eyes, I see a guy who has tremendous timing, tremendous timing.

“He’s coming over the top of guys’ jab and when he turns it over, he’s doing damage. I mean real damage. And if he ain’t knocking them out, they falling down. And then they be messed up.

“So, he was hoping that he was gonna bait Floyd into a situation where it’s like – nobody’s falling for that. One thing I do know is the guy can punch and he’s got great timing.”

You can’t rule this out, as this would be a very McGregor thing to do, and he may very well have fooled the fans.
