The WWE Universe is taking the cancellation of Talking Smack hard.

It’s well known by now that Talking Smack will no longer air on the WWE Network after SmackDown Live and 205 Live go off the air. On Friday, WWE has decided to cancel the show as a weekly series. This past week’s episode that featured former WWE Champion John Cena was the final weekly episode.

Instead, Talking Smack will continue to air as a post-PPV broadcast. The show, which was hosted by Renee Young and SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan, has been on the streaming since last August.

While the hardest of the hardcore of WWE fans are upset with the company’s decision, you have to look at it from WWE’s standpoint. If people are not watching the show then what’s the point of doing it.

Yes, there has been some popular segments and memorable moments, but as of late, it’s just been another show. WWE throws so much programming at its fans that maybe this is a good thing.

You have Raw that is three hours, SmackDown that is two hours, 205 Live that is an hour and then PPV (pay-per-view) events every other Sunday. That is a ton of content.

You always have thousands of hours on the WWE Network and then other promotions to watch such as New Japan Pro Wrestling, TNA Wrestling, and of course Ring of Honor to watch as well.

Former WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz, who regularly appeared on the program while he was on the blue brand and had a famous segment with SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan on the show, took to his Twitter account to comment on the news. He wrote the following:

So when it comes down to it, WWE was not doing much with the show. When it was at it’s most popular, you had angles as well as match announcements for upcoming PPV events and episodes of SmackDown Live.

It seems that when Bryan decided to take time off for paternally leave for the birth of his daughter Birdie with his wife and former WWE Superstar Brie Bella, the show went downhill and was not as good as it once was. That most likely led to the downfall of viewership.
