The New Orleans Pelicans are looking forward to enjoying an entire season with their All-Star big man duo Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins and have hopes to reach the playoffs.

With teams across the Western Conference making moves this offseason, it's easy to forget that the Pelicans possess the two best bigs in the league after they acquired Cousins prior to the trade deadline in the last campaign.

The franchise's priority this summer was to surround the pair with the right role players to help them flourish and do what they do best.

The team wasted no time in re-signing free agent point guard Jrue Holiday to a huge five-year, $126 million contract.

New Orleans has now moved to secure a potential backcourt partner for Holiday as multiple reports claim that they have agreed a one-year deal with veteran guard Rajon Rondo.

Per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe, team officials - including head coach Alvin Gentry and general manager Dell Demps - met with the former Celtics man this week and described the discussions as "excellent".

The two parties wasted little time in agreeing a deal and the Pels are hoping to partner Rondo with Holiday in an attempt to allow the latter to play off the ball more often.

The move to NOLA also sees the 31-year-old reunite with Cousins who he played with for one year in Sacramento and the two formed a strong bond during their time together.

In their lone season in Sac, the four-time All-Star averaged a league-leading 11.7 assists per game, to go along with 11.9 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals. Per ESPN, he recorded 237 assists to Cousins - his most assists to one player in a single season.

Adding one of the league's best passers to DeMarcus and AD will hugely benefit the team's offence.

The Pelicans will be Rondo's fifth team since the 2014-15 season. After just one year with the Chicago Bulls, the veteran was waived earlier this summer.

After a controversial campaign in the Windy City, the former NBA champion played his way back into the starting lineup and played some of his best basketball in the first round of the playoffs against the Boston Celtics before injuring his thumb.

Having another experienced ball handler will benefit the Pelicans and this move could be perfect for Rondo as he'll be given the license to run the offence and that's when he's at his best.
