The Houston Rockets have been one of the busiest teams this offseason as they aim to assemble a team capable of challenging for a championship.

The franchise made arguably the biggest deal this summer when they acquired superstar point guard Chris Paul from the Los Angeles Clippers.

CP3 will form a tantalising backcourt partnership with last season's MVP runner-up James Harden in what is sure to become one of the best duos in the league.

The Rockets are building something and are determined to compete with the Golden State Warriors in the west.

The organisation's ambition was good enough to convince Harden to commit his long-term future to Houston.

The All-Star guard recently signed a four-year, $228 million extension to remain in Texas - the biggest extension in NBA history.

When asked how it felt to have signed the record-breaking deal, Harden replied: "Sounds good. But honestly, the only thing at this point of my career is winning, to get a championship."

With Paul on his team, the Beard is even more determined to secure his first ring and says he only has eyes for that.

"That's what we're working toward. That's why I'm in the gym every single day, and I won't stop until I get it."

Since being traded to the Rockets in 2012, the 27-year-old has been the face of the franchise and his contract extension symbolises a lifetime commitment to the team.

"I know where home is," said Harden. "I know where I want to be. I know where I want to retire ultimately and where I want to win a championship. Everything is going to happen here in Houston, and that's the reason I'm here forever."

The All-NBA star averaged 29.1 points, a league-leading 11.2 assists and 8.1 rebounds last year as he was moved to the point guard position by head coach Mike D'Antoni.

The arrival of Paul will mean Harden plays off the ball more as they'll have to share ball handling responsibilities and the prospect of playing with another playmaker is something he is relishing.

"I don't think anybody's ever seen anything like this before," Harden said of his partnership with Paul. "Two guys that can create and facilitate and do things with the ball that nobody's done from the [point guard] and shooting guard position. It's going to be fun."

The fans in H-Town will certainly be in for a treat next year and the Toyota Center will be one of the hottest tickets in town.
