It has been a roller coaster of a year for former UFC light heavyweight Jon Jones.

"Bones" became the youngest champion in UFC history back in 2011 when he defeated Mauricio "Shogun" Rua at UFC 128 with a third round TKO victory to secure the 205-pound title. From then on out, Jones embarked on an epic reign as champion after racking up eight consecutive title defenses. Jones had all the potential in the world to not only break Anderson Silva's consecutive title defense record of 10, but shatter it.

Jones, however, became his own worst enemy and his decisions outside of the Octagon began to greatly affect his career as an elite mixed martial artist (MMA). After defending his 205-pound title with a unanimous decision win over Daniel Cormier at UFC 182 in January of 2015, Jones was involved in a hit-and-run that spiraled his career out of control.

After driving under the influence and hitting a pregnant women, whose arm was broken as a result of the crash, Jones was stripped of his 205-pound title and suspended indefinitely by the UFC.

During his hiatus, his hated rival Daniel Cormier was able to step in as a replacement for Jones in this then-scheduled UFC 187 light heavyweight title fight against knockout artist Anthony "Rumble" Johnson. "DC" won the bout via third round submission and captured the vacant 205-pound throne left behind by Jones.

Jones was soon reinstated and scheduled to face-off against Cormier in a heated rematch at UFC 197 in April of 2016. Unfortunately, Cormier was forced to pull out of that bout due to an injury, leaving Jones to take on Ovince Saint Preux for the interim light heavyweight title. Jones dismantled "OSP" for five rounds en-route to a lopsided unanimous decision win.

A unification bout was set for UFC 200 last Summer, however, Jones once again continued his troubled ways when he failed a drug test administered by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). The bout was scrapped just two days prior to the massive event, leaving the card in a great flux.

Now, after all the dust has seemed to settle surrounding Jones, the pair are set to fight in a highly-anticipated rematch at UFC 214 in the pay-per-view's (PPV) main event. Jones recently posted a picture on Instagram following a training session in preparation for the title bout, and is looking insanely jacked heading into the contest:
