Wojciech Szczesny will leave Arsenal on a permanent deal, potentially as early as this week, following two years on loan at AS Roma. The Polish goalkeeper initially left the Emirates Stadium back in 2015 following the arrival of Petr Cech from Chelsea and, overall, he’s impressed for the Giallorossi.Szczesny has certainly caught the eye of the Italian champions Juventus, who are poised to sign the 27-year-old as understudy to Gianluigi Buffon.According to the Guardian, Juve and Arsenal are now in the ‘final stages’ of concluding the deal. The fee will be around £10 million.

Szczesny will wait for Buffon to retire

Szczesny faces a season sat on the bench at the Juventus Stadium, with Buffon expected to retire at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.

But the Pole, who joined Arsenal back in 2006 before making his first-team debut three years later, appears to be happy to bide his time before Buffon finally calls time on his illustrious career.

That’s presuming Buffon does hang up his gloves. The legendary Italian shot-stopper plans to play at next summer’s World Cup finals and nobody would be surprised if the 39-year-old ended up making a dramatic U-turn over his future.

Petr Cech isn't getting any younger

Arsenal fans must be wondering why Arsene Wenger is selling Szczesny if Juve want him as Buffon’s successor.

Cech isn’t getting any younger - he turns 36 next season - and the Gunners will soon be on the hunt for a replacement for the former Czech Republic international.

However, there’s at least one Gunners’ supporter delighted with the news of Szczesny’s impending departure.

‘HM’ - @hmafc on Twitter - has created a two-minute video compilation of the Pole’s worst moments for Arsenal.

“I am so sad Szczesny is leaving 😭😭😭“ the sarcastic caption reads.
