If there’s one thing that WWE has done a bad job of keeping a secret, it’s what they intend on doing with Roman Reigns in the coming year.

Following on from his huge victory at WrestleMania 33 against The Undertaker – where he potentially retired The Deadman – rumours had him staying out of the Universal Championship picture for the following year in the build-up to WrestleMania 34.

BIG PUSH

Although he could still be featured in a championship match at SummerSlam opposite The Beast Incarnate, along with a couple of other big names such as Braun Strowman and Samoa Joe, the expectation is that The Big Dog will meet Lesnar in the main event of WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans.

However, if a report from Wrestling News World is to be believed, the WWE could be reconsidering giving Reigns the big victory and making him the face of the company.

It’s common knowledge that WWE wanted Reigns to dethrone Lesnar and give him a massive coronation, being someone who not only defeated The Phenom, but beat the only other man with a WrestleMania victory over him too.

It’s a little far-fetched to make this assumption right now, as even negative fan reaction hasn’t stopped WWE from booking him like a monster and it’s obvious that the fans won’t welcome him with open arms like other face stars.

GIVING UP?

The source claims that her merchandise sales have taken a dip, while the nuclear heat he receives from the WWE Universe is continuing to get worse and the company could be forced to change their decision and they could give up on making him the face of the company.

Aside from the boos, the same source has added that Reigns usually gets a good reaction at live events as opposed to what we see weekly on Monday Night RAW and pay-per-views, but that negative reaction has now spilled over to the house shows and that has also triggered the decrease in his merchandise sales.

However, the most interesting point revolves around the WWE Network.

During a survey the company had sent out asking why fans had unsubscribed from their services, many reportedly cited Reigns as the sole reason why they are no longer subscribers.

Vince McMahon is still big on Reigns, and he probably won’t accept defeat in making his project the flag bearer and the face of the company, as he truly has it all to excel in that role.

It would be a bold move to make, and there probably isn’t anyone else on the roster who could easily slot into that role and instantly become the face of the organisation.
