Pepe Reina could turn out to be one of the bargains of the summer if he leaves Napoli.

On a personal level, the goalkeeper has had a difficult few months in Serie A, culminating in him reportedly storming out of a team dinner towards the end of last season.

No-one knows if he's made up with club president Aurelio De Laurentiis since then, but it would be no surprise if he quit I Ciucciarelli.

However, his next destination could come as a shock.

The Manchester Evening News report the 34-year-old is being targeted by Pep Guardiola as he eyes yet another goalkeeper.

Seeing the Spain international in a Manchester City shirt would take some getting used to, but that's not all that's odd about the potential switch.

It's not long since City broke the world record transfer fee for a goalkeeper when they signed Ederson from Benfica for £35million.

And it's only a year since Claudio Bravo arrived in a £15.4m deal from Barcelona.

What are City doing?!

All the while, Joe Hart is being booted off to West Ham. Willy Caballero has been released and since joined Chelsea, but it still leaves Guardiola looking a tad silly.

It remains to be seen how it would affect Bravo if Reina were to join.

We shouldn't read too much into the Chilean not travelling with the squad to their pre-season tour of the United States, as he's simply being given more time off following his starring role at the Confederations Cup.

Bravo's first season in English football was nothing short of a disaster. His countless howlers have given Guardiola another headache, and as it's thought that Reina wouldn't move to the Etihad to be third choice, perhaps last term's number one is on his way out.

Nevertheless, City aren't actively looking to get rid of him unless they can recoup a significant portion of the money they paid for him 12 months ago.

So, will Reina be an improvement?

The former Liverpool man kept 12 clean sheets for Napoli last season, compared to Bravo's six. The two stoppers are also the same age, yet City fans will no doubt think there's a world of difference between them.
