Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger faced the press in Shanghai on Tuesday and was unsurprisingly asked for his opinion on the comments made by Alexis Sanchez over the weekend.

The Chilean forward has one year left on his deal at the Emirates and appears unlikely to put pen-to-paper on a new contract.

PSG are the latest club to show interest and the French giants certainly have the cash to tempt the Gunners into selling a player who could leave for nothing next summer.

Arsenal finished 5th last season and will miss out on Champions League football for the first time in the 21st century.

“The truth is that the decision doesn’t depend on me,” Sánchez, who is on holiday in Chile, told the local Radio Sport station.

“I have made my decision, but now we wait for a response from Arsenal. It depends on them, I have to wait to know what they want.

"My idea is to play and win the Champions League. It's a dream I have had since I was little."

The veteran Arsenal manager has tried to avoid questions on the future of contract rebels Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.

However, it is getting increasingly difficult and Wenger's comments made today will certainly raise some eyebrows.

"The decision is not to sell"

“I don’t give too much importance to things that are translated, you know,” said Wenger. “The whole interview that I got didn’t really mean that.

Wenger seems unwilling to accept the fact that Sanchez wants to leave.

Despite that, the 28-year-old forward claimed he had made his decision and was waiting for Arsenal's decision to be made.

According to Wenger, the club have made their decision.

“The decision has been made and we will stick to that," said Wenger. "The decision is not to sell.”

The Gunners won each of their first two pre-season friendlies in Australia last week and flew to China to continue their summer tour.

Arsenal face Bayern Munich on Wednesday in Shanghai as part of the International Champions Cup before travelling to Beijing for a tasty clash with Chelsea.

Despite fan pressure, Wenger signed a two year contract extension at the end of tan underwhelming 2016/17 campaign and will lead the Gunners into the Europa League this season.
