The Chicago Bulls moved quick when they decided it was time to trade Jimmy Butler this summer, shipping him to the Minnesota Timberwolves hours ahead of the 2017 NBA Draft.

Butler is going from an uncertain situation in Chicago to a young, promising team in Minnesota. He'll be looked at as the leader of the team, partnering with head coach Tom Thibodeau for the second time in his career.

The process of being traded is one fans don't get much of a window into very often. When it comes to high-profile trades, like the one that sent the Bulls' franchise player to a new home, it's even harder to fathom how it all went down. Luckily, Butler shared the story of how he found out, and his immediate reaction to becoming a Timberwolf.

Butler joined The Bill Simmons Podcast and didn't shy away from sharing the intimate details of how he was informed about the next chapter in his career. Jimmy was overseas in Paris playing a game of spades with former teammate Dwyane Wade and his wife Gabrielle Union when his agent called to give a heads up that a trade was getting closer.

"My agent called me, and he said, ‘Hey, I think you’re about to get moved to Minnesota.’ And I said, ‘OK, cool. I’m going to get back to my spades game.’ Because I can’t really control [a trade]. It’s out of my control. I try to control what I can control. … And then he calls me [again], ‘You just got traded to Minnesota,” Butler said.

Jimmy being unfazed by such jarring news is a bit surprising, but his name had been in trade rumors in the past. He took the move in stride, and his immediate thoughts about the potential of his new team were all positive once he hear the news.

“Right then and there I was like, ‘Hey, we’ve got some really good, young guys. I’m back with Thibs. Let’s do what we always do. We’re going to continue to get better every single summer, and we’re going to go about it that same way. Just now I’m wearing different colors,'" Butler told Simmons.

That's a great attitude to have as he embarks on a fresh journey. While star NBA players are making big money no matter where they play, uplifting everything from the place you call home is never easy. It's made even tougher when it's a player like Butler, who's spent his entire career in one city.

He doesn't sound too worried about adjust, though, which is great news for what should be a competitive team in the stacked Western Conference.
