Raw General Manager Kurt Angle’s big secret was finally revealed on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw.

There has been speculation as to what his big announcement would be after WWE started this storyline with the WWE Hall of Famer and Raw commentator Corey Graves. There was talk of several different things that could be revealed. Angle could have had an affair, or he was going to return to in-ring action.

Other theories include WWE bringing back Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon, who has not been seen since WrestleMania 33 back in April when she took a bump off the apron and through a table, or former TNA President Dixie Carter making her debut on WWE television.

Instead of those things happening on Monday night, WWE went outside of the box and did the unthinkable. Angle revealed that former SmackDown Tag Team Champion Jason Jordan of American Alpha was his illegitimate son. This was a shocker for sure.

If you really look at it, WWE gave their fans hints about this storyline over the last few weeks on SmackDown Live. The company was not doing much with American Alpha, and they had been working dark matches. Then out of the blue, Chad Gable was working matches with top stars with Jordan nowhere to be seen.

Dave Meltzer talked about the segment on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio. He indicated that the reason why WWE decided to do this angle was a way for them to push Jordan as a singles competitor on television.

“It may help Jason Jordan - it may hurt him. I am gonna guess he was going nowhere, but you get that stigma. You see, now the problem is he was going nowhere slowly, but now he has to be pushed."

“And if he doesn’t succeed on his push he’s going be one of those guys like Drew Galloway or you know, that was given the big push and didn’t didn’t succeed and then they’re kinda like screwed. Whereas he was gradually pushed - let’s put it this way it wouldn't be like he’s a failure it’s a slow build thing,” Meltzer said (transcript courtesy of Ringside News). “But now it’s like he is gonna have to be pushed and if doesn’t take things are going to be regarded as a failure, and we’ll see what happens.”
