For the last six seasons, Chris Paul has been the bedrock of the Los Angeles Clippers’ offense.Averaging 18.1 points and 9.2 assists over 31.5 minutes per game last year, Paul will be replaced by some combination of former Rocket Patrick Beverley and former international star Milos Teodosic.Making up for Paul’s 9.2 assists per contest will be difficult from an individual standpoint for either of those players, but as a team, head coach and president of basketball operations Doc Rivers believes that the Clippers will actually share the ball more with CP3 gone.“We’ll have ball movement, you know,” Rivers told the media on Tuesday. “That’s one of the things, for the most part, that I’ve always preached. With Chris’ skill, you wanted to take advantage of what he could do, and he was a guy that needed the ball to make plays. And he did it so well, you kind of changed to do that.” Check out the sincerity in Rivers’ comments when he spoke at an introductory news conference for some of the team’s acquisitions on Tuesday:

Teodosic made a name for himself as one of the best international passers, but he has yet to play a single NBA game. Therefore, it’s safe to assume that there will be a bit of a learning curve as he translates his skill set to the most talented league in the world.

Beverley is an elite defender, but hasn't assumed a large facilitating role so far in his NBA career. Part of that is due to the fact that he played alongside James Harden, who had the ball in his hands a lot, but it’s fair to say that Beverley’s strengths lie on the defensive end of the court.

While the total passes of Teodosic and Beverley may eclipse Paul’s total, the effect that they’ll have on LA’s offense is unknown.

It’s worth noting that Lou Williams, who was part of the Paul deal, also has experience handling the ball, so he may also be asked to play some backup point along the way.

Since Blake Griffin decided to re-sign with the team on a five-year, $173 million deal, All-NBA center DeAndre Jordan is still under contract, and the team completed a trade for forward Danilo Gallinari, the frontcourt should be very solid, but considering the fact that J.J. Redick left in free agency, the Clippers are left with just Williams and Gallinari as pure, spot-up shooters from the perimeter.

Therefore, moving the ball will be necessary to gain high-percentage looks, but rather than subscribing to the brand of basketball that the Golden State Warriors made famous, a completely new “Lob City” mainly featuring pick-and-rolls and drives to the basket could be utilized in order to play to the team's strength.

Nonetheless, the Clippers' offensive attack will look entirely different without CP3 at the helm and it will be fascinating to see how their season transpires.
