Chelsea fans will probably remember Tottenham's 1-0 defeat to West Ham back in May better than Spurs' supporters.

It was the game which many thought effectively handed the title over to Antonio Conte's men as the gap remained at four points with just four matches remaining.

As we all know, Chelsea won all of those subsequent encounters but it certainly felt like Tottenham's title challenge was already a lost cause after Manuel Lanzini's goal proved the difference at the London Stadium.

You would have expected Chelsea's stars to be glued to the television to watch the action unfold, but it turns out even Conte had no idea what was going on.

With the new season rapidly approaching, Sky Sports have released a series of intriguing interviews to tell the story of Chelsea's 2016/17 Premier League triumph.

And by chance, Cesc Fabregas and Conte were dining in the same restaurant when Mauricio Pochettino's side were taking on the Hammers.

With no TV to watch the game, Fabregas was getting updates on his phone.

When Lanzini eventually opened the scoring in the 75th minute, the Chelsea midfielder signalled the score to his manager sat behind him.

Initially, Conte thought it was Spurs who found the breakthrough, only to be corrected by Fabregas.

The Italian admitted he 'didn't eat' for the next 20 minutes until the final score came through.

Once the final whistle was blown at the London Stadium, Conte came over to Fabregas' table to hug him, his father and Marcos Alonso, who was also in attendance.

If that hasn't brought a smile to Chelsea fans' faces, news Conte has signed a new deal at Stamford Bridge surely will.

Following previous reports the former Italy boss had been stalling over a new contract, the club announced he has signed an improved deal - although the length of time on his deal hasn't actually extended.

And Chelsea can now hope for a similar Fabregas-Conte story to emerge next May too.
