The boxing superfight between UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor and undefeated 49-0 boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. continues to take the combat sports world by storm.

Mayweather has not stepped into a boxing ring in years, since announcing his retirement following a unanimous decision win over Andre Berto. McGregor has never competed in a professional boxing fight in his combat sports career, but will be making his professional debut against, arguably, the greatest of all time come next month.

Recently the pair took part in a four stop World Tour to help promote the contest, in which some explosive trash-talk took place between the two brash mega-stars.

Now that all of that is out of the way, the two men can prepare to meet one another inside the ring by redirecting their full attention to their respective training camps. Earlier this week rumors began to circulate throughout the combat sports media newswire that McGregor had suffered a knockout during a sparring session in training camp.

These claims came from former WBO welterweight champion Jessie Vargas who was talking about putting money down on Mayweather for the fight. These claims have been denied by multiple parties involved in the fight, with Mayweather himself recently addressing them.

"Money" was interviewed by Fight Hype to talk about the upcoming fight, and claimed he doesn't believe anything until he sees actual footage (quotes via MMA Fighting):

“My thing is basically like this, if I ain’t seen no footage, I don’t believe it,” Mayweather told Fight Hype. “And me and Jessie Vargas are in communication. We’ve been communicating, but everything is just rumors until I see it. I have to visually see it with my own eyes.”

This isn't the first time rumors have been made up in the lead-up to one of the Irishman's fights, as rumors ran rampant during McGregor's training camp for Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 for the lightweight title that "The Notorious One" was knocked out while sparring in training. Reports suggested that the Irishman suffered a broken nose and his fight was in jeopardy.

Those rumors, of course, turned out to be false and McGregor went on to knock out Alvarez in the second round to become the UFC's first ever dual-weight champion in history.
