Arsenal’s players could have been forgiven if they had gone over the top with their celebrations after beating Bayern Munich in the International Champions Cup [ICC] on Wednesday. The Gunners have suffered badly at the hands of the German giants on multiple occasions in the Champions League over recent seasons. And when Bayern took the lead at the Shanghai Stadium through Robert Lewandowski, Arsenal player’s must have feared another hammering. However, to the surprise of many, Arsene Wenger’s men sent the match to penalties thanks to a last-gasp equaliser from Alex Iwobi. The Gunners then held their nerve in the shoot-out, winning 3-2 and lifting the ICC Cup in the process.
What Petr Cech did during trophy presentation
Arsenal had a trophy presentation after the match and there was a fantastic moment involving goalkeeper Petr Cech, who was subbed off midway through the second half for Emiliano Martínez.
With neither Per Mertesacker or Laurent Koscielny in the squad, Cech had the honour of lifting the trophy.
However, he refused to hoist the silverware in the air, much to the disappointment of some of his excited teammates.
“Let’s lift the big one at the end of the season,” Cech told his teammates, per Arsenal’s official Twitter account.

Arsenal fans react
Needless to say, there were Arsenal fans who were encouraged by the small but significant gesture from Cech.
Why Cech was such a good signing for Arsenal
Unlike many members of the Arsenal squad, Cech has won plenty of winners’ medals during his illustrious career.
During his 11 years with Chelsea, the former Czech Republic international won four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups, the Europa League and the UEFA Champions League.
One of the reasons Wenger signed him was so that he could pass on his incredible experience and be a positive influence in the Arsenal dressing room.
And little moments like this can make the world of difference.
