With just six weeks left of the transfer window, very little good can come of the Alexis Sanchez situation for Arsenal.

The Chilean has made it clear he isn't signing a new contract, reiterating his desire to play in the Champions League.

That leaves the Gunners with two options: lose their star player now, or keep him for another unhappy season and let him go for nothing next summer.

To make matters worse, Manchester City are the front-runners.

Arsene Wenger was absolutely hammered for allowing Robin van Persie to join a rival club five years ago, so he'd be crazy to repeat that mistake again - especially if, like RVP, Sanchez went and won the league with his new team.

It would be far easier to stomach if the 28-year-old instead moved abroad.

There's positive news on that front, as it seems Paris Saint-Germain have suddenly re-entered the race.

The Ligue 1 runners-up have been heavily linked with Neymar in recent days. That story doesn't seem to be complete fabrication, but even if there is something behind it, a lot of fans will still think it's nothing more than a pipe dream.

PSG are in

Sanchez is much more easily attainable. With that in mind, PSG officials are stepping up their efforts to win his signature.

Le Parisien report that the club's sporting director Antero Henrique has left their pre-season tour of the United States and headed to London to negotiate a €40million deal.

The price sounds ridiculously low, but PSG will be optimistic they can talk Arsenal down because they know how reluctant the north Londoners are to sell to City.

Unai Emery is conscious of the need to bolster his attacking options behind Edinson Cavani. He's probably asking too much if he plans to have both Neymar and Sanchez, but this is the best indication yet that PSG are 100% interested in prising him away from Arsenal.
