Kylian Mbappe was the name on every big club's lips at the start of the summer. After bursting onto the scene for Monaco in both the Champions League and Ligue 1 last season, it was little wonder the 18-year-old rocketed up to the top of many managers' transfer wishlists.Twenty-six goals from his first full campaign in senior football prompted heavy speculation he would be the subject of potentially the biggest move of the entire summer. Many thought it would be a matter of time before the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain launched their pursuit for the young French star and yet Monaco have so far stood firm on Mbappe's future. Not only that, such is their determination to keep Mbappe at the Stade Louis II, Monaco have now issued a statement asking FIFA to take action against any clubs who have made an illegal approach for their prized asset. The statement reads: "AS MONACO regretfully notice that important European football clubs made contact with Kylian Mbappe (and his entourage) without its authorization."AS MONACO want to remind to these clubs that such actions are contrary to the article 211 of the Administrative regulation of the French Football League (Ligue de Football Professionnel) and to the article 18.3 of the Regulation of the Status and the Transfer of the Players of FIFA."To put an end to this unacceptable situation, AS Monaco consider asking the French Football League (Ligue de Football Professionnel) and FIFA to commit disciplinary procedures against clubs offenders."

You'll struggle to find a more serious 'hands-off' request than that this summer - Monaco are not happy.

With so many clubs linked with the French international this summer, it was hard to initially decipher who the Ligue 1 club were referring to.

Some speculated that the specific mention of the 'French Football League' hinted that PSG were some way involved.

And Sky Sports' Bryan Swanson tweeted shortly after the statement was released to confirm Monaco's domestic rivals were the alleged perpetrators, however, they are not alone.

Swanson also revealed that Man City also face the prospect of being punished should FIFA decide to act.

Meanwhile, Arsenal, who have been the other English team believed to be serious about signing Mbappe are not thought to have committed any wrongdoing.

Southampton issued a similar statement earlier this summer regarding Liverpool's approach for Virgil van Dijk.

As a result, Jurgen Klopp and co. were forced to back down in their pursuit.

And you've got to assume Monaco will be hoping for the same outcome from their warning today.
